Ultimate Couch Potato Workout

So you’ve just had the longest day of your life and even though you want to be more active, the last thing on your mind is getting to the gym.

And you can already hear the couch call your name. Never fear, you don’t need to miss a workout without our ultimate couch potato workout.

Complete this circuit for 4 consecutive commercial breaks and rest while your favourite show is on. Repeat all 6 exercises without rest as soon as the commercial break starts.

1. Squats x 15

Step 1: Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.
Step 2: Bend your knees and sit back and down with your hips.
Step 3: Go down as low as you comfortably can.
Step 4: Stand back up.
Step 5: Repeat.

2. Incline Push Ups x 10

Step 1: Get down into a pushup position with your hands on the couch.
Step 2: Bend your arms as you lower your chest to the couch. Keep your elbows close to your sides.
Step 3: Push up and straighten your arms.
Step 4: Repeat.

Tip: Keep your core tight and make sure that you keep your body straight. Don’t lift or drop your hips.

3. Glute March x 30

Step 1: Sit down in front of the couch with your shoulder blades resting against the couch.
Step 2: Push through your heels as you lift your hips up into the air.
Step 3: Start marching left and right. Make sure that you keep your body in a straight line.

Tip: Keep your core tight. Don’t drop your hips while you march.

4. Supermans x 20

Step 1: Lay face down on the couch with your arms out.
Step 2: In one motion tense your entire body as you lift your arms and legs off the couch.
Step 3: Hold for 3 seconds.
Step 4: Lower back and repeat.

5. Split Squats x 15

Step 1: Stand with your one foot on the ground in front of you and the other resting on the couch behind you.
Step 2: Bend your knees and go down as low as you comfortable can.
Step 3: Stand back up and repeat until all your reps are done.
Step 4: Switch legs and repeat on the other side.

6. Sprint In Place x 30 sec

Step 1: Stand with your feet together.
Step 2: Start running in place.
Step 3: Once you’re comfortable with the movement speed up.

Tip: Make sure that you land softly to protect your joints.

Remember to breathe and hydrate with some water while you rest in between circuits.
